Irresistible, tasty, juicy, delicious. How else could you describe the unique taste of Abruzzo roast? It‘s an icon of local culinary tradition, a symbol of true street food and a heritage of Italian gastronomy. Already during the weekend of 14 and 15 May you will be able to taste this delicacy and much more.
A sincere description that does honour to those who produce it and then prepare it, on the charcoal stove, as tradition dictates, with a pinch of salt, to make its unique and unmistakable flavour truly unbeatable!
We are talking about Bracevia a Tutta Pecora, a Slow Food and Gambero Rosso partnership, in the province of Chieti, where first the sheep are reared on the Abruzzo plateaus, then the meat is selected and processed by hand to obtain the best cuts, the irregular ones and those of different thicknesses, and finally the traditional cooking takes place on 2 metre long, strictly charcoal-fired ovens where the arrosticini are still turned by hand by skilled grillers.
There are many ARROSTICINI in Rome, but none of them can tell their ‘story’. Behind the word ‘arrosticino’, in fact, lies the tradition, culture and passion of the men and shepherds of Abruzzo, and it seems right to dedicate an entire festival to their symbolic product.
This is why Rome will host the Bracevia a Tutta Pecora team for a weekend of unique flavours at the AgriPark in Via Castel di Leva, the outdoor area of the Cooperativa Biologica Agricoltura Nuova … we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The tasty kebab will be celebrated over the weekend of 14 and 15 May, accompanied by the best regional wines from the Ferrante Winery in Lanciano: Montepulciano d’Abruzzo D.O.C.. , Cabernet Sauvignon – Terre di Chieti I.G.T., Pecorino – Terre di Chieti I.G.T.. , Cococciola – Terre di Chieti I.G.T. Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo D.O.C..
But ample space will also be given to traditional Abruzzo cuisine, with dishes based on fresh Avezzano truffles prepared by the chefs of the “Orlandi Tartufi” restaurant: an all-Abruzzo delicacy to enhance local products and km0, in this case extracted with the help of 42 Lagotto Romagnolo dogs.
