February 19 – 26, 2022, two superhero weekends in defence of the Earth

Zoomarine Park, located on the outskirts of Rome, in Torvaianica to be precise, is launching the idea of a green party for everyone to step into the shoes of superheroes in defence of the Earth, with the aim of reducing waste and pursuing a healthier lifestyle. This is the start of a decidedly original initiative, “MascheRiciclo” (MasksRecycle), divided into two events scheduled for February 19 and 26, dedicated to an eco-solidarity Carnival with a fantastic cycle ride in fancy dress and a musical tribute to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first performance of the famous opera “Il Carnevale degli Animali” (The Carnival of the Animals) by French composer and pianist Camille Saint-Saens.

The event starts on February 19 with a cheerful and colourful cycle ride, strictly in fancy dress, to give cycling enthusiasts and families the chance to have fun while taking part in a charity project. Children who turn up at the entrance to Zoomarine with a companion, both on bicycles, will have the opportunity not only to take part in the initiative but also to visit the park for free and discover the great new features of 2022.

The only condition for obtaining the free ticket is to bring a gift of old carnival masks or accessories, perhaps forgotten in a wardrobe and no longer used, which can be brought back to life and made available to less fortunate children thanks to the “magical” sartorial maintenance work carried out by a team of reuse and recycling stylists from the Strade Diffuse association, whose mission is to create educational paths and creative re-socialising workshops.

To sign up and book free admission to the park, simply send a whatsApp message to 338 88 58 524 by February 18 at 4.00pm, which will only be valid if there is a reply with confirmation of admission and while places last.

Participants will be given colourful bibs and a participation diploma at the end of the ride, which will also entitle them to a fun gadget. The family-size ride, starting at 11.30am, will take place along a mini route set up in total safety in the car park opposite the entrance to Via dei Romagnoli. Once inside the park, bikes can be parked inside with a security service (it‘s important not to forget the chain and lock).

In addition to a workshop for making “do-it-yourself” masks and costumes, useful for enhancing imagination and creativity, children will also be able to take part in a workshop to turn themselves into a small two-wheel mechanic, together with road safety notions.

A special day is also planned for February 26 with activities dedicated to a slightly unconventional but nature-friendly Carnival, including a concert and themed dance show on the notes of the “Carnival of the Animals”, an ironic and irreverent work by the artist Saint-Saens, which consists of fourteen relatively short and very evocative pieces, each dedicated to an animal. An excerpt from the composition will be performed by the young musicians of the “Sotto i Raggi del Sol” school, directed by the singer-songwriter Alessandro D’Orazi, together with the corps de ballet of the Petite Etoile dance school, with thematic choreography by Chiara Pedone. Many of the protagonists will wear costumes created in the spirit of “reuse and recycle” and all the children will be able to give free rein to their imagination thanks to the “Atelier Piccoli Stilisti” workshops. During the weekend there will also be educational activities with animals and the chance to enjoy exciting experiences with the park’s new attractions.
