Montmartre is one of Paris’s most iconic neighborhoods, perched on a hill in the north of the capital. Sacré-Cœur is its most famous landmark, but the neighborhood is best explored on foot. Between Place du Tertre, Abbesses, the staircases and former artists’ addresses, Montmartre still carries the traces of its artistic past.
Our tip: do not stop at Sacré-Cœur. Walk a few streets farther and you will find small squares, staircases and much quieter streets.
