5. Auntie Náncsi 's restaurant

Náncsi Néni is the kind of old peaceful place, which there are unfortunately fewer and fewer. It's the place where you feel at home from the first moment. They have huge cottage cheese dumplings, fragrant and rich bean soup, and testy and spicy lecsó. All around you are shelves full of bottled fruit and pickles. It is really a place, where you can feel like you once did in your grandmother's kitchen.

Place: Ördögárok út 80

6. Marxim

Communist-style ruin pub with great pizza. Marxim is a place that has not changed much over the course of the past years. In the late 90s, the place was a colorful patch in the not so various Budapest scene turning the once feared symbols of communism into something ordinary as a pizzeria. They have a large number of different pizza options, with names that are word plays on communist expressions and words. This pizzeria is a relic from the dusk of socialism when a closed factory was just across the street.

Place: Kis Rókus u. 23

7. The Happy Drink bar

The Happy Drink Bar is a youthful place at Bercsényi Street. It is dedicated to the cartoon Happy Tree Friends. Low prices and a variety of activities for all Happy Drinking Friends! The place is ideal for a good beer, a splash, a coffee or even a cup of tea. There's football and you can lie on bean bags under the bar. It's cosy but can get noisy when it is full.

8. Főfotó

A place where everything is all about photography, this stunning place is a gallery, café and photo store in one. Spend a short time within its walls and you'll be captivated. Vegetarian or vegan, meat-lover or smoothie addict, you're sure to find something to your liking.

Place: Baross u. 10

9. sPIEcy Pie Boutique

This place is located on Kertész Street, and if you want to try something really delicious, this is the place to go. The tiny little shop has a few seats, a counter, an old kitchen cabinet and a window. Although the place itself is really small, there is always a nice selection of perfectly shaped pies, from Hungarian-inspired ones like goulash pie to sweeter traditional offerings like cherry and apple. They all look stunning and no doubt they are tasting good too.

An "animal-friendly place"! A familiar environment in the heart of the city center, where you can enjoy your favorite coffee, tea or cake in the company of special animals! A great place for animal lovers, with over 60 animals living here. There is a time limit of one hour, but it's well worth it! Animals are rotated every few minutes. Soon after the "Cat Café" concept was introduced in Europe, a café of this kind opened in Budapest, combining the beauty of the animal world with the ritual of coffee drinking in the heart of Budapest, in the sixth district, near St. Stephen's Basilica and the city centre. A cozy and comfortable cat-centric place where you can enjoy your coffee and cake in the company of cats. And although the cats nap most of the day, if you're lucky they'll come and check your table themselves.
