Budapest Photo Festival 2025

Photography is like a game where the world is the playground, light and shadow are the rules, and the camera is the magical tool that makes the invisible visible. Here, we are both participants and observers, creators and receivers, players and rule-makers. With the gesture of pressing the shutter, the photographer can pause the flowing reality, create new narratives, and shape a world that is constantly changing—just like light.
In its ninth year, the Budapest Photo Festival invites you to join this exciting game for six weeks, from March 28 to May 11, 2025, featuring fifty exhibition openings and numerous programs!

The Budapest Photo Festival launches its ninth edition with a national premiere. In collaboration with the Kunsthalle Budapest (Műcsarnok), the festival presents the legendary German fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh’s (1944–2019) iconic works for the first time in Hungary. Since the 1980s, Lindbergh has been one of the most celebrated figures in fashion photography. As a pioneer, he sought to capture timeless character with minimalist techniques, redefining the concept of beauty with his unique style. His portraits, marked by unposed naturalness and an unconventional vision within the world of advertising and fashion, stood in stark contrast to the strictly constructed aesthetics of his era, challenging the prevailing trends in fashion photography.
