From October 9 to 18, the capital transforms into a radiant stage for light art. This is due to one of the world’s most famous and largest light festivals—the Festival of Lights—where, every autumn, famous landmarks, buildings, and squares are showcased through light art, 3D video mapping, and installations over the course of ten days.
The 2026 program is themed “Colours of Love.” This year’s edition—the 22nd to date—features 37 illuminated locations. You will experience famous sights such as the Berlin TV Tower, Berlin Cathedral, Potsdamer Platz, and the Brandenburg Gate—as well as other beautiful spots—in a whole new light.
There is also an extensive accompanying program.
In addition to standard public installations, special audiovisual performances take place inside certain buildings.
These include the “Beyond the Light” and “Festival of Lights in Concert” shows at the Berlin Cathedral, and “Festival of Lights Club Nights” at various Berlin clubs. Tickets are required for these shows; details, dates, and ticket information can be found on the official website.
For those wishing to visit multiple installations at once and learn a bit more, guided tours are available—by foot, boat, or bus.
