Around since 1984 and still going strong, this year, lovers of all things jazz have something special coming their way as the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra celebrates their 40th anniversary in style. Founded by trumpeter Fredrik Norén, the band has made a name for itself around the world, touring countries such as the UK, USA, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa and Spain — to name a few. It’s perhaps these places that have inspired some of their sound, known for their swinging “big jazz band” type tunes, from yesteryears as well as the modern jazz scene. Catch them at the end of September (30/9) at Fasching (an intimate live music venue in the city that’s been going since 1977 and is well-known for its jazz gigs). And don’t forget to bring them swinging hips!
Justin Timberlake The Forget Tomorrow World Tour – Live. The prince of pop is coming to Sweden!!! Forming part of his ‘The Forget Tomorrow World Tour’ following on from his sixth studio album Everything I Thought I Was, relive your early 2000s fantasies during this one night concert come 2nd September 2024 in Stockholm! After joining the Disney crew, then part of boy band sensation NSYNC, Timberlake started his solo career in 2002, producing Grammy award-winning hit after hit. Prepare to sing your hearts out to all your favourites old and new; “Cry Me a River,” “Like I Love You,” Sexy Back,” “Selfish” and more! Catch him live at the Tele2 Arena on 2 September 2024.
Even though the summer has “officially” ended, there’s no need to panic. In Stockholm, there are always more festivals to enjoy, just like the annual Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival — which has been around since 1992! Treating eager drinkers for 32 years, the event takes place down by the sea at Nacka Strand beach (a 15-minute drive from the city). And let’s be honest; the clear skies, the sound of the waves and sandy shores screams “summer vibes!” It takes place from 5-7 September within Hall I in Tegelhuset and Hall II in Bilfabriken. Stalls sell beer, whiskey, cider, mead, gin, rum, calvados, wine, champagne and other distillates. There are tasting sessions, or purchase whole bottles. Entrance fee gets you your own glass to keep!
It’s not that often that fans are able to watch their favourite artist play in the same city year after year, but any jazz fans in Sweden during September 2024 are in for a treat! The born-and-bred Swedish, Grammy-Award-winning local, Amanda Ginsburg will once again be playing in Stockholm!!! Even if you’ve maybe never heard her music before, if you appreciate jazz you’ll love this one! After all, she won the “Jazz of the Year” category at the Grammys in 2021 for a reason! Her debut album ‘Jag har funderat på en sak’ was released in 2018 and fans can enjoy tracks from both this one, as well as her second. She’ll be playing live at Erstagatan 1 on 15th September, and you can get your tickets for her unique show via Tickster. Don’t forget to bring along your good mood and hunger for jazz.
Brazil is a country well known for its festivities and colourful culture. On 7th September as the country celebrates its independence (which happened on the same day back in 1822!), get ready to do the same right here in Stockholm. A perfect day out for the entire family (including your pets), it guarantees a day of amazingly authentic food (both food trucks and a food tent for sit down dishes to enjoy), live music and enjoyment for all ages. Hosted by Brazil & Co., it’s all happening at Kungsholms strand and entrance is free — just bring your hungry bellies and good vibes!
Yes, Oktoberfest is a Bavarian event, but the world’s largest and most recognised “Volksfest” is celebrated across the globe — and not just Europe! Anyhow, this year in Stockholm, Oktoberfest is held from the 12th September (all the way to the 14th October) for its tenth year in the Swedish capital city. Expect a whole lot of drinking, traditional foods, fun and games, and getting dressed up is highly recommended…Especially if you own a pair of lederhosen or a dirndl). If you’re here on the weekends, there’s also live music, Bavarian style!
Ever wondered what Sweden was like, say, 100 years ago? Travel back in time like it’s the 1900s at the Skansen Autumn Market! Celebrating the traditions and culture of the country, this folk, food and music festival sports old-fashioned games, dancing and music, with market stalls selling yummy and authentic foods, sweet treats and also interesting crafts to buy, from toys to textiles, woodcrafts, household goods, preservatives, and more! Don’t be surprised to see people meandering around in period costumes — so it really feels like you’ve stepped back 120 years ago! It’s held annually, for the last ten years and counting, and this year’s dates are 28-29 September 2024.
In a country known for its heavy metal and rock antics, London born progressive rock metal band Haken is playing in Stockholm for one night only! While they may not be everyone’s cup of tea, if you’re fans of the genre you’ve undoubtedly heard of the band, producing seven albums. Their latest ‘Fauna’ is also the highlight of this tour. Plus, if you book VIP tickets, you’ll also get a free Haken tote bag, a signed Fauna Tour art drumhead, a private Haken Soundcheck Experience, an individual photo opportunity with Haken AND a VIP autograph signing session with Haken! Catch them at the Södra Teatern on the 8th September!
We absolutely LOVE a good night market, and luckily for us and you, the Marieviks Night Market takes place for two consecutive weekends during September! Hosted at Plåtparken Marievik, it’s all about street food delights (from bao buns to tacos), cocktails, music and good vibes, and of course, shopping for market treasures! The market kicks off from 5pm until 10pm in an open-air setting, and dates are: 6-7 September and 13-14 September.
Think you have what it takes to run a mini marathon? The annual Ramboll Half Marathon takes place in Stockholm once again this 2024! All runners, get ready and sign up before the 7th September. The afternoon half marathon is a huge event that will take you through the beautiful streets of Stockholm, healthy-style. This year marks the 40th edition of the classical September run (the first was in 1984), so you can rest assured the competition is going to be fierce! Are you ready to win awesome prizes and give it your all? The pre-race day expo is from the 5-7 September, or wish runners good luck during the race from the Cheerzone.
As a bonus treat, we are proud to present one of the best clubs in Stockholm: Trädgården! This open-air “club” venue is a must if you love your nightlife, parties, good music and having fun with your friends. In case of bad weather or super cold evenings, the indoor version — Under Bron — is always available. But the outdoor vibes beneath the trees continue until 14 September. The area is open to all who want to party in a safe and nature-themed environment. So tag along while the weather is still warm!
