Friday Nightskating (FNS) is the meeting place for Vienna’s inline skating and cycling community. For almost 25 years, we have been campaigning for a skater-, bike- and climate-friendly city with Friday Nightskating.
Above all, we are still Vienna’s most innovative inline skater and cyclist demo. We ride across the city every Friday, right through the night. Taking a different route every week, we fight for a traffic turnaround and want to make public space fairer and more liveable. Together, we take over the streets at night, move on wheels and rollers and create a unique atmosphere.
Friday Nightskating is a demonstration. A demonstration that is 100% muscle-powered. We are demonstrating against the fossil-fuelled concrete policies of yesteryear. More space for inline skaters, cyclists and anyone travelling without a motor! Public space, Vienna’s streets and squares don’t just belong to cars.
Our rides attract between 1,500 and 3,000 skaters and cyclists every week. The annual highlight is the ride on the A22 motorway on skates and bikes. We combine lifestyle, sport and politics in an extraordinary way. Together we rediscover Vienna!

Everyone can join in, discover the city from a different perspective and experience a different feeling of mobility. With Friday Nightskating you can get to places in Vienna in the middle of the night that you would otherwise never see – and all on wheels or two wheels, with pure muscle power and many like-minded people. Together we will discover Vienna anew. Together we demonstrate and conquer the public space that is otherwise reserved for cars.
