Irish Christmas Festival Vienna

Celebrate Christmas like the Irish do by attending the 25th anniversary of this unique concert tour with a line-up worthy of a grand celebration!

The evening is opened by a very young trio, yet deeply rooted in Irish tradition. Led by EMMA CORBETT, the new “Queen of the single row accordion” and banjo wizard THOMAS AHERN at her side, they lay the sound carpet for breathtaking Sean Nos dancing by BREANDAN SEOIGHE.

Family ensemble THE MOYNIHANS led the way in the 1990s with their then band “Calico”. DIARMAID MOYNIHAN (bagpipes) DEIRDRE MOYNIHAN (fiddle, vocals) and DONNCHA MOYNIHAN (guitar) are among the most important musicians on the island.

THE ALT can be called an “Irish Supergroup” with certainty. NUALA KENNEDY (flutes, vocals), JOHN DOYLE (guitar, vocals) and EAMON O`LEARY (bouzouki vocals) have dedicated their work to old Irish songs and rarely heard old tunes. As a “bonus” they bring along the veteran KEVIN BURKE, one of the most important fiddlers in Irish music history.
