Belvedere Museum & Gardens virtual tour. For those who like architecture, a little bit of history and nature the Belvedere complex is certainly a must to visit. The whole area is made up of two Baroque palaces – Upper & Lower Belvedere, greenhouse and palace gardens. Built in the 18th century, the palace served as a summer residence to the Prince Eugene of Savoy who had purchased the area in the late 1690s and commissioned the construction of the complex during the extensive construction period in Vienna.
The Upper and Lower Belvedere are nowadays, one of the most visited and south-after areas in Vienna. They house the exhibitions of Viennese’s most famous artists, such as Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka and others. The interior is hugely influenced by the baroque era and ceiling frescos, beautiful murals as well as the famous golden cabinet room are very much a sight for sore eyes.
The exterior of the Belvedere complex has been built in the French style which has been very popular in the imperial Vienna. The Belvedere ground include cascades decorated with fountains and flower beds of various interesting and colourful plants. Some levels of the cascades have Baroque sculptures that decorate the path and the gardens where you can sit down and relax a little.
The museums are opened all year round (you can check our article about the online exhibition https://eventland.eu/vienna/) from around 09:00 to 18:00 and offer lots of interesting things to see. The outside area of the complex is a place where tourists like to be and admire the architecture of the historical Austria and locals come to have a good time jogging or walking along the hidden areas of this beautiful landmark.
