  • 02.03.2024 - 10.03.2024
  • Events, What to do in Vienna
  • 7-14€

On 2 March 2024, the WIKAM (Vienna International Art and Antiques Fair) spring fair will start with classical and contemporary art. The fair will present both museum pieces and affordable items for young collectors from a wide range of eras and collecting areas – from the Gothic period to the present day.

Classical antiques and contemporary art – WIKAM is one of Austria’s leading art fairs and an internationally recognised platform for private collectors, museum experts, curators and art-loving visitors from Austria and abroad. This art fair has been taking place for more than 45 years and thus not only successfully stands for high quality and seriousness, but also for continuity.

For nine days, WIKAM:

Museum Masterpieces – Visitors can expect a fascinating selection of museum masterpieces, including Asian art, Gothic sculptures, antique clocks and carpets, furniture and jewellery from Baroque to Art Deco. A particular highlight is the sandstone sculpture of a mythological figure with two dragons from the baroque Dresden Zwinger. The paintings include outstanding works by Olga Wiesinger-Florian, Carl Moll, Oskar Mulley, Alfons Walde and Alfred Zoff.

Contemporary Art – A wide range of artistic perspectives and innovative positions are on offer. These include impressive works by internationally renowned artists such as Herbert Brandl, Alex Katz, Helmut Ditsch, Gottfried Helnwein, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer and Hubert Scheibl, while Austrian artists such as Franziska Maderthaner, Kiki Kogelnik and Saša Makarová deserve special mention. In addition, innovative positions by young artists provide fresh impetus from the current art scene.

Interesting special exhibitions – An exclusive special presentation honours the works of Willy Eisenschitz, an important Austrian painter of the 20th century who found his artistic home in France. The solo exhibition of the German artist Thitz, known for his internationally exhibited bag paintings with cityscapes and nature motifs, also promises impressive insights.
