Nothing is as fast-moving as the fashion world. Clothes that are barely worn are discarded just as quickly and end up … where? In 2023, the Vienna MehrWeg trade fair will kick off with an exciting discussion on the circular economy and textiles. Nunu Kaller, author and activist, discusses with Lisa Panhuber from Greenpeace and textile expert Claus Bretschneider. Moderation: Astrid Aschenbrenner.
Lisa Panhuber has been a campaigner and spokesperson for Greenpeace in Austria since 2019. Her focus topics are waste prevention and environmentally friendly production of consumer goods such as clothing, electronics, food and cosmetics. She completed a Master’s degree in Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and Public Communications at the University of Vienna and worked in Munich, Cambodia and Vienna before joining Greenpeace.
Nunu Kaller grew up in Vienna. She studied English, journalism and history. After graduating, she worked for two years as a journalist in the online politics section of the Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse. Kaller later joined Vier Pfoten and Global 2000 as a press spokesperson. From 2014 to 2019, Kaller worked for Greenpeace Austria as a consumer spokesperson. In March 2021, she published her third book “Kauf mich! In search of good consumption”. Kaller lives and works as a communications and sustainability consultant in Vienna.
Claus Bretschneider has spent his entire life in the clothing industry: from the Viennese family business to various successful brands of his own. This gave him a deep insight into a globally connected industry full of twists and turns. The more he got to grips with the fashion industry and fast fashion in particular, the more he realized that countless fashion companies were manoeuvring themselves into a dead end, and Claus Bretschneider has been a pioneer for sustainability ever since, producing fair clothing with BREDDY’S that meets the high standards of a sustainable fashion industry. He works as a consultant for clothing companies that are striving for more sustainability in their processes and has thus earned an excellent reputation that extends far beyond Austria’s borders.
