Vienna Shorts Festival

VIENNA SHORTS is the international short film festival in Vienna that annually in spring makes around 300 films from all over the world accessible to the audience and the international industry in the best possible way – be it in the cinema or in the museum, be it in digital or virtual space. The festival focuses on the short cinematic form in all its variations: Feature film and documentary, animation and experimental film, music video and all kinds of hybrid formats. The programme structure, developed in 2010 and still largely valid today, was revised in 2020 and made clearer.

Today, the festival is divided into five tracks, which include competitions, thematic programmes, live formats as well as industry and educational programmes. Outside of competition, the festival places an emphasis on developing and showcasing talent and influential artists* with a distinctive signature and remarkable creative vision.
