Interpol

It’s hard to think of a more definitive New York band than Interpol. The soul of the city seems to vibrate in the band’s melancholic post-punk and in singer Paul Banks’ fragmentary musings. And when the now iconic debut ‘Turn on the Bright Lights’ was released in 2002, the whole world had the opportunity to dive into this rich universe. Almost 25 years have now passed and the three members Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino have continued to devotedly, almost methodically, refine the formula that once made them one of the world’s most beloved indie bands. A journey that spans seven excellent albums, of which ‘The Other Side Of Make-Believe’ from 2022 is the latest.

Two years after the explosive breakthrough of their spectacular debut, Interpol managed the rare feat of making a follow-up that was just as good – at least. That record is called ‘Antics’ and is imbued with an artistic confidence that is hard to fathom given the enormous expectations that hovered over the band. 20 years have now passed since ‘Antics’ was released, an anniversary that will be celebrated by the New York trio playing the acclaimed album from start to finish. A celebration that Interpol will bring to Cirkus in Stockholm on October 19.
