Being both accessible and mysterious is an unusual and desirable combination. A balancing act that the enigmatic superstar Loreen pulls off with no apparent effort. How else to explain that an artist who so uncompromisingly handles her art manages to win Eurovision not once, but twice? What is clear is that Loreen has a primal force that is impossible to mistake but difficult to capture in words. It seems to go beyond language. With wonderful strength and poignant fragility, she invites the listener into a musical universe that is dark, dramatic and captivating. The music has come in various forms over the years, but what is common is Loreen’s continued drive to take pop music to its absolute limit. Now it’s time for her to take over Cirkus in Stockholm! November 23 is the date and, as most people know by now, witnessing Loreen on stage is a physical, potentially life-changing experience.
Loreen’s debut album is called ‘Heal’ and was released in 2012, an album that includes songs like ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’, ‘Crying Out Your Name’ and ‘Euphoria’. It took five years for the follow-up ‘Ride’ to be released. There, Loreen continued her bold exploration of her expression, this time against a more analog and dynamic background. Since then Loreen, real name Lorine Zineb Noka Talhaoui, has made an acclaimed appearance on ‘Så Mycket Bättre’, released music in Swedish and most recently taken over the radio waves with the irresistibly majestic Eurovision winner ‘Tattoo’.
