WALTER TROUT back at Nalen!

The mighty American blues legend Walter Trout is not only one of the genre’s best guitarists. He’s also a singer and songwriter of the highest order. All in all, this makes him one of the blues greats of our time, of the louder, rockier variety. Seven years ago he had to undergo a liver transplant, but now he’s back in full force and his latest album ‘Ordinary Madness’ (2020) has been hailed as one of his best.

New Jersey-born blues rocker Walter Trout was in the spotlight long before his own debut. The incomparable guitarist that he is, he played guitar with the likes of John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton and Joe Tex. He also played in the group Canned Heat in the ’80s, but it was after filling in for an ailing John Mayall that Trout was really discovered. 1990 saw his own LP debut, and it’s been rolling on ever since.

Trout has a heart that beats for modern blues rock. He’s respected by the old guard, revered by the younger, and adored by the fans who come up to greet him after every concert. In short, after five decades in the business, Trout is a talismanic figure and part of the glue that holds the blues community together at a time when the broader world has never been so divided.
