Exhibition of nativity scenes

The Christmas atmosphere is once again returning to one of Prague’s oldest and most beautiful places. From 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, the traditional nativity scene exhibition “Milujeme betlémy” (We Love Nativity Scenes) will take place in the spaces beneath the prelature of Břevnov Monastery, attracting hundreds of visitors each year who seek peace, beauty, and the true magic of Christmas.

In one place, visitors can admire dozens of nativity scenes from across the Czech Republic — from classic wooden, paper, and ceramic pieces to modern, original artistic works. Each nativity scene tells its own story and reflects the rich tradition of Christmas craftsmanship as well as the spiritual dimension of the holidays. The exhibition beautifully connects faith, folk art, and honest craftsmanship within the authentic setting of a monastery with more than a thousand years of history.

Accompanying Program
The exhibition is complemented by a diverse program appealing to visitors of all ages:

20 December – ceremonial opening of the exhibition
20–21 December – nativity makers’ market, live demonstrations, and direct sales by the creators
22–23 December – children’s workshops and guided tours for families
27 December – Night of Nativity Scenes with commentary until 8:00 PM
27–28 December and 3–4 January – woodcarving workshops and live demonstrations of nativity-making art

The nativity scenes at Břevnov Monastery are an ideal family-friendly outing. The exhibition is clearly arranged, the descriptions are easy to understand, and the environment is welcoming. Children can try making figurines and simple techniques, while adults will appreciate the detailed craftsmanship, traditional methods, and the unique monastery atmosphere.

The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in Christmas traditions, and enjoy both the Advent and post-oliday season in a calm and inspiring setting.
