The exhibition Kamila Ženatá – Someone I Used to Know runs from August 14 to October 12, 2025, at Ethera Gallery in Prague 1, inviting visitors to reflect on the theme of transience.
In her latest works, the artist captures the fleeting nature of events, people, and situations – the things that fade, arrive, and transform in life – and contrasts them with light as a constant symbol of life and hope. “Light is life. When the sun rises in the morning, everything changes,” says the author, whose 2025 paintings carry a strong emotional charge while radiating a calm stability.
The exhibition is conceived as an invitation to dialogue. Ženatá creates a space where visitors can connect with their own memories, emotions, and personal stories that her works may evoke. It is not only a visual experience but also an opportunity for inner reflection – a moment to slow down and consider what endures in our lives despite constant change.
Kamila Ženatá (*1953) is one of the prominent figures of the Czech art scene. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied under Ladislav Čepelák, she initially focused on printmaking and intaglio. Over time, she transitioned to painting and multimedia installations, often exploring themes of memory, emotions, and inner transformations. Her work draws inspiration from Taoism, quantum physics, and psychedelic experiences, seeking ways to express the inexpressible. She is the author of numerous large-scale projects and exhibits in prestigious galleries both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
If you let yourself be guided by the light in her paintings, Someone I Used to Know will offer not only an aesthetic experience but also a deeper perspective on what transience means – and on what remains when everything else fades away.
