The last weekend of May – from May 23 to 25, 2025 – history, architecture, and noble story lovers can look forward to an exceptional event: Private Castles and Châteaux Days.
Owners of historic sites from all over the country, often members of families who have managed these estates for generations, will open the gates of their residences and prepare a special program for the public.
Under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, guided tours, cultural events, concerts, tastings, and personal meetings with the owners will take place, offering visitors a glimpse into château life in the 21st century. Some sites will be open exceptionally only during this weekend, while others will offer access to usually closed-off corners.
Selected events at castles and châteaux:
Blatná Château will celebrate traditional fishery during the “Fishing Weekend”. Visitors can look forward to markets with fish specialties, music, and entertainment in the château park.
Dolní Kounice will offer exclusive tours with commentary from owner František Zoubek and a reminder of historical events, including a tasting of the famous DolnoKounická Frankovka.
Houska Castle invites visitors on Saturday, May 24, for a tour with co-owner Michaela Horová.
Hrádek near Sušice will allow visits with owner arch. Pavel Lejsek, who will personally introduce the reconstruction and operation of the site.
Karlova Koruna and Kost Châteaux will offer tours led by members of the Kinský dal Borgo family.
Líšno Château will open newly restored halls, the park, and the farmyard with a granary.
Lobkovice Château will open the gates to its 1970s construction site, complemented by a café in the château garden.
Neustupov, Palupín, Plešivec, and other sites are preparing original programs – from historical cooking courses to exhibitions and concerts.
Stránov Château will introduce personalities connected to the château through special guided tours.
Štáblovice Château will offer a tour focused on the nobility in period press.
Všechovice Château will delight art lovers with an exhibition of paintings and puppets.
Vilémov Château is preparing tours including a visit to the game reserve and light refreshments.
Děvičky Castle in Pálava will offer tours focused on architectural development and educational activities for children.
Velké Meziříčí Château will make its fresco hall and chapel accessible – by prior reservation only.
Libkova Voda Château will open its first rooms and present reconstruction plans, including cooperation with students from the Czech University of Life Sciences.
This exceptional event brings not only a connection with history but also with the present and future of Czech heritage – through the personal stories of those who care for it with passion and vision. In addition to beautiful experiences, visitors will take away a deeper understanding of the importance of cultural heritage preservation.
