Opera Festival 2O25

From January 29 to April 18, 2025, Prague will become the center of opera art thanks to the Opera 2025 Music Theatre Festival.

This exceptional event, held every two years, welcomes all Czech and Slovak opera ensembles to present their most representative productions, offering audiences unforgettable experiences.

The Opera Festival is the only regular event of its kind, allowing comparisons of artistic direction and performance levels of individual ensembles since its inception in 1993. In addition to professional companies funded by the state or municipalities, the program increasingly features independent theater projects, thereby broadening the spectrum of opera showcased. Since 2015, Slovak ensembles have been regular participants.

The festival takes place not only on the prestigious stages of the National Theatre but also in other theaters and unconventional venues throughout Prague. It offers an extraordinary program of opera titles, some of which have not been performed on Prague stages for a long time, or even ever before. Additionally, it brings fresh perspectives to productions that are currently part of local theaters’ repertoires.

Audiences will have the chance to discover not only remarkable opera works but also the exceptional individuals behind this genre – directors, conductors, singers, and other artists active both in regional companies and the independent theater scene.
