Our society is full of competition – doing things better, faster, stronger, that is all that matters (at least, it seems so). Only the strongest and the most dedicated ones are successful. In such an environment, to think about sympathy to yourself seems almost ridiculous, certainly meek at least. And still, it is needed – because this sympathy could be much better motivation for you than strict regimes and criticism. We do have compassion for all beloved ones, our family and friends, so why do we struggle so much with doing the same for the person which needs it the most – out inner selves?
