Norway on Foot – Travel Live Reportage

08.11.2020

Norway – lengthways! It cannot be done! Or is it? Simon Michalowicz is neither particularly sporty nor has he much experience in outdoor life. Nevertheless, he laced up his boots, quit his job and set off for Norway. It crosses Norway lengthways for a total of 140 days. His goal: to reach the North Cape on foot!

The »Norge på lang« is the supreme discipline among Norway’s hikes. 3000 kilometres on foot from the southernmost point at Cape Lindesnes, up to the far north beyond the Arctic Circle, to the famous globe on the cliffs of the North Cape. Simon Michalowicz is not a well-trained outdoor professional – but he has fulfilled his dream of walking this path. In 2013, Simon quit his job and left for Norway.

He wanders through the vastness of the fell, enjoys the magic of the Scandinavian autumn and is always fascinated by the northern lights. Despite broken shoes, a lost tent and unplanned detours, he persistently moves towards his goal. On the way, he meets exciting people and countless reindeer and dives deep into the Scandinavian Friluftsliv – the life outside in the fresh air – which the Northmen and women love to indulge in.

Anyone who is infected by the Nordland virus will not get rid of it anytime soon! A breathtaking adventure that demands everything and at the same time offers everything a hiker longs for?
