We are sure that all of you know one of the biggest composers in the world´s classical period. A boy born in Salzburg who was so talented he composed some of his first works by the age of five. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is certainly the musical prodigy people perceive him to be. The residence of his family where young Mozart grew up and composed some of his works now serves as a museum and a commemorative place of not only Mozart and his work but also of his family.
After its reconstruction after World War II the museum opened to the public and stores more than half of all of the known documents which are associated with the Mozart family. Original letters, music manuscripts, drafts of Mozart´s work, autographs. All of these can be seen in this staggering collection. In the residence, you´ll see some of Mozart´s original instruments on which he composed many of his musical works. The audiovisual collection holds more than 30 000 audio files with the music composed by Mozart and is used free of charge by the researchers, teachers, students and fans of classical music who visit this place every year.
On the website, you will find a 3D VR Tour where you can peruse through the whole residence and have a look at the artefacts which shed a light on the history of this multitalented family.
