Thirty years ago, a new era of European history began. In Eastern Europe, socialist dictatorships were overturned and the Cold War was over. The division into East and West was gone, the continent reunited.
The big changes that accompanied the fall of the Iron Curtain will never be forgotten. However, free elections, the adoption of new constitutions or the abolition of press censorship are not the only changes that we remember and which we value. The communist regime influenced even the smallest details of our daily lives. We learned to buy new fashion in the stores, use new raw materials in the kitchens, use new technologies in the offices, and learn about new cultures when traveling.
We are duly grateful for all the “new” changes brought about by the regime change, and we will never stop respecting freedom. For this to happen, it is still necessary to remember how the Iron Curtain limited us all. Not only in the development of our countries, but also in the growth of each of our inhabitants.
You can remember it with us thanks to the Visegrad 4 Film Week. Maybe we all will appreciate our presence more.
