Marc Ribot, one of the most famous and appreciated guitarists in the world, returns to the Auditorium to present his new album Songs of Resistance 1948 – 2018.
Ribot has decided to put together a series of songs taken from the anti-fascist songs of the partisans of the Second World War, from the movement for civil rights of the United States and from the Mexican protest ballads, as well as from original compositions.
The career of American guitarist Marc Ribot crosses all genres, and many have heard it without realizing it in the records of Tom Waits and Elvis Costello or in the soundtrack of Scorsese’s The Departed. A sought-after soloist, he has played and participated in the recording of the records of important world music stars, such as Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Diana Krall and Marianne Faithful, Caetano Veloso and McCoy Tyner, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Norah Jones.
From his collaborations with symphonic orchestras to those with luminaries of soul and jazz (John Zorn in primis) Ribot’s career is a hymn to the complexity and richness of the popular music of the Americas.
