From 8 May to 16 September 2019, the Pompidou Centre will examine the close connection between prehistory and the artistic process. Cave paintings have inspired generations of artists and encouraged them into creative experimentation. Visitors to this one-of-a-kind exhibition will be able to spot the influence of art in prehistoric times on the work of some of the world’s greatest painters, among them Picasso, Miró, Cézanne, Klee, Giacometti, Ernst, Beuys, Klein, Dubuffet, Smithson and Penone.
