Pigneto Film Festival

After the success of the 2018 edition, this year the second edition of the Pigneto Film Festival (PFF) will be held from June 30th to July 6th 2019.

The festival, which involves 5 international filmmakers in a conterst to create 5 short films telling the Pigneto, aims to to create a film archive on one of the most artistic neighborhoods of Rome, which served as the backdrop for extraordinary films by extraordinary directors, from Rossellini to Pasolini, from Pietro Germi to Mario Monicelli.

With the sponsorship of the Municipality of Rome, from Libraries of Rome, the European Commission, Amnesty International and Nuovo Imaie, the patroness of this second edition is Carolina Crescentini.

The formula of this new edition takes up the heart of the first edition and is enriched with new contents, with the production of civilian documentaries and music videos, as well as the production of cinematographic shorts entirely shot in the neighborhood by young videomakers from all over the world.

There are so many new features in this second edition, one above all is Carolina Crescentini who will be the MADRINA of the PFF 2019 and will deliver the award for Best Short. Davide Enia, on the other hand, will award the Best Actor and Thony award for the Best Actress award.

THE CONTEST:
5 foreign film makers, 144 hours to imagine and create an audiovisual product, using only „raw materials“ from one of the smaller neighborhoods of Rome.
6 days of shooting inside the „Pigneto triangle“ where the young directors in the race will have the chance to tell about places and stories of one of the most alternative, dynamic and unruly neighborhoods in Italy. The participants will have to develop a theme that will be communicated to them only the day before the shooting, the works of the film makers will be examined by a technical jury composed of 5 elements that will publicly award a prize to the winner.

WORKSHOP
The PFF inaugurates the WORKSHOP section with 5 real cinema professionals who will give their technical contribution during the realization of the 5 short films in the competition.
Giordano Meacci, writer and screenwriter of films like „Non essere naughty“ (Claudio Caligari) and the two-part miniseries on De André „Il Principe Libero“ (Luca Facchini)
Fabio Mollo, director of „The Young Pope – a Tale of Filmmaking „,“ Il Sud è Niente „and“ Il Padre d’Italia „(4 nominations for the Nastri d’Argento 2017).
Paolo Bravi director of photography for „The Protagonists“ (Luca Guadagnino), „Ballo a tre passi“ (Salvatore Mereu), „Tartarughe sul dorso“ (Stefano Pasetto), all selected for the Venice Film Festival.
Andrea Cavalletto, costume designer of the movie „Dieci Inverni“ (Valerio Mieli), „I Primi della Lista“ and „Piuma“ (Roan Johnson), „Il Sud è Niente“ and Il „Padre d’Italia“ (Fabio Mollo), “ La Madre „(Angelo Maresca),“ The Prati will come back „(Ermanno Olmi) and“ 7 minutes „(Michele Placido).
Gabriele Giambertone, Sound designer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, „Selezione Ufficiale“ at the Roma Film Fest with the documentary „Diario di Tonnara“, finalist in the 74th edition of the Nastri d’Argento with the documentary „Bulli e Pupe“.

THE TUTORS
From this year the production of the Pigneto Film Festival (PFF) will make 5 TUTORS available to selected filmmakers who will give their artistic contribution during the realization of the 5 short films in the competition.
Roberta Mattei – one of the main characters of the film „Non essere naughty“ by Claudio Caligari, nominated for the David di Donatello award for best supporting actress in „Veloce come il vento“ by Stefano Accorsi.
Daniela Marra – star of a hit series like the recent „Il Cacciatore“, and „SquadraAntimafia“.
Giovanni Anzaldo – in the cast of „Il Capitale Umano“ directed by Paolo Virzì and recently starred in „Non è un paese per giovani“ by Giovanni Veronesi.
Sarah Maestri – in the cast of „Night before exams „Il pretore“ by Giulio Base, „Behind the dark“ by Maestro Giorgio Pressburger.
Roberto Oliveri – for two seasons in the cast of „Gomorra“ and soon on the screens in the „Devils“ series with Alessandro Borghi and Patrick Dempsey.

THE FILMMAKERS competing in the second edition:
Joseph Truflandier – is a French musician and filmmaker, director of films and documentaries that received great acclaim at Lussas Festival.
Julia Shuvchinskaya – a young Russian director, lived in Switzerland, England, Thailand, studied film and video clip direction, surrealism is her stylistic signature.
Kent Donguines – award-winning Canadian director at local and international film festivals, young producer of the Crazy8s Film Society.
Sarah J Van Breda – from South Africa, a graduate of the Vancouver Film School specializing in Directing, Post-Production and Cinematography, her works have been awarded at international festivals.
Sergiy Pudich – Ukrainian, awarded with the title of „Director of the Year“ (Odessa Region Creative Youth Award). Sergiy has received more than 100 awards for his films, social advertising and music videos worldwide.

The PFF is organized by Waldo Event Network, a creative boutique formed by a team of professionals working in the field of planning and production of events, communication and artistic promotion.
