Caracalla Baths: 2019 Summer Season of the Rome Opera House (Teatro dell’Opera di Roma).

The 2019 summer season of the Opera House in Caracalla promises to be full of emotions. Three titles in the program, in addition to the now usual Extra already announced. It starts with Francesco De Gregori who will open the 2019 season on June 11th in a brand new style, accompanied for the first time by a great orchestra, with De Gregori & Orchestra – Greatest live hits. Following a great return to the ancient Baths: Ennio Morricone will direct his music for the cinema in six extraordinary concerts on 15, 16, 18, 19, 21 and 22 June. The concerts, which are part of his „60 Years of Music“ World Tour, will represent the last unmissable occasion in which the Maestro will play his beloved music before enjoying a well-deserved retirement. In July the usual summer appointment with the Roberto Bolle and Friends gala, on the 9th and 10th, remains an unprecedented moment for appreciation and presence. On 20 and 21 July, it will be the turn of Mark Knopfler and his band. Listening to this great live artist will be an unforgettable experience, enhanced by the unmistakable charm of Roman ruins. On 22 July the great pianists and composers Stefano Bollani and Chucho Valdésthey will meet to play together in a new and unique project without precedent. In the exceptional context of the Baths of Caracalla the two artists will start a tour, Piano a Piano. From Cuba to Rome, which will continue throughout the world. Ninety minutes of improvisation destined to create a musical show of incredible impact for the public.

The operatic and ballet billboard will offer three titles of great appeal to the public. There will be a new set-up of Verdi’s Aida, a melodrama that is very suitable for the open and imposing space of the ancient Baths, which has not been in Caracalla since 2011. Two more will be added: La Traviata and the ballet Romeo and Juliet.
