For me Art is like a river, it arises from thought, it goes through your heart, overcoming waterfalls and deviations coming to flow from the hands.

Vittorio Iavazzo

In 2018, RvB Arts launched its project MANI, an acronym for Manualità Armonia Narrazione Italiana with which it wanted to affirm an identity centered on young artists in which the relationship with the roots in the Italian artistic tradition and its “crafts” is always source of nutrition.

This year, for the second edition of the event, RvB Arts presents the personal exhibition of VITTORIO IAVAZZO, an emerging Neapolitan artist who, like Giuliano Macca of the previous exhibition, perfectly represents the key points that guided the curatorial choices of the gallery from the beginning .

In the subject and beyond it includes all the latest works by Iavazzo: the papier-mâché sculptures for which it is known but also the drawings and sketches that provide a “backstage” of his work. The exhibition, in fact, was born from the idea of Iavazzo to break down the barriers between his laboratory and the gallery, with the intention of sharing with the public all the phases of the realization of the work: the sketches and preparatory drawings, the sketches in wax, the negative of the mold where the paper is modeled, up to the sculptures. A real diary of his work, from November 2018 to the days preceding the inauguration of the exhibition, going through the design, creation and transformation of the material, going “beyond”, recounting the difficulties, the second thoughts,

Vittorio Iavazzo was born in 1991 in Naples. In 2014 he obtained a three-year degree in illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and in 2016 the specialist in art graphics. In his works he uses both ancient and modern techniques and materials such as papier-mâché and polyurethane resins. His artistic research is based on the ecology and recycling of materials with which he creates faces and figures in which a taste for the antique prevails in the fragmentary and fragile form of the find.

MANI is held annually in May at RvB Arts. With the repetition of the event, the gallery intends to make an annual presentation of its most representative artists of this project:

MANUALITY understood as technical ability and the recovery of the “trade”;

ARMONIA intended as a desire to bring emotion back to the center of the art, to reach even that vast and varied public that often feels alienated from contemporary art; but also as an ability to make such heterogeneous languages coexist in a single project;

NARRATION understood as a predilection for the story, an expressive form capable of favoring the connection between work and user;

ITALIAN in that the imagery of the artists involved was formed in this country, becoming a fundamental part of their research.

MANI is also the manifestation of the rich and increasingly appreciated talent scout activity of Michele von Büren, gallerist and curator of RvB Arts. Many of his artists have in fact won awards and participated in international events, obtaining awards shared by the critics and the market.
