Baulkham Hills High School in the Church of Saint Paul Dentro Le Mure


In the beautiful setting of the Church of St. Paul within the Walls (St. Paul’s within the Walls) the band, the string ensemble and the jazz ensemble of Baulkham Hills High School from Sydney, Australia will bring their best repertoire to the stage. . This is a group of good level guys on their first tour in Italy, who will perform with a varied program: from Nessun Dorma by G. Puccini, to Libertango and Oblivion by A. Piazzolla, the Estate of the Four Seasons by A. Vivaldi , G. Verdi’s Overture from Nabucco, a medley of traditional Australian songs, Don’t Stop Me Now by F. Mercury, B. Howard’s Fly Me to the Moon, Girl from Ipanema by V. de Moraes and others.

Appointment Friday 26 April, with the concert starting at 5.00pm. Admission is free. Baulkham Hills High School (affectionately called “Baulko”) is a highly selective public high school located in the north western suburbs of Sydney. Founded in 1971, it currently has 1,200 students aged 13 to 18 years.

The institute’s music department offers its students a vast instrumental program involving around 200 children divided into 6 bands, 3 ensembles, a string ensemble and a symphony orchestra. Of these students 46 participate in this tour in Italy. The string ensemble is conducted by Maestro Bridget Hann who studied at the Sydney Conservatory of Music, specializing in archery education. She has been working at Baulko since 2009 where she developed the string ensemble and founded the symphony orchestra in 2011. The wind orchestra is conducted by Alvin Mak, musician, arranger and musical director. He plays the flute and the small one since 2003 and besides being a teacher, he is very supportive of the theatrical activity of the students and the community performing as a multi-instrumentalist in various musicals productions.
