Multicultural troupe with contemporary and classical training, the Ballet Rambert delivers a Nina Simone, reloaded and sung live.
The Ballet Rambert claims to be a British national company and continues to invite the country’s most innovative creators. For example, the prolific Ben Duke, author of Goat, a tribute to Nina Simone, where the music, played live, conditions the slightest gesture of sixteen party-goers came to enjoy the songs of the singer, including his famous version of Feelings, given at the Montreux Festival in 1976. In front of singer Nia Lynn and the musicians, the crowd performs rituals closer and closer to the Rite of Spring. And we speak. Because Goat evokes a committed artist. But for the troupe, it is also an act of resistance against the London terrorist attacks. An unprecedented challenge for the dancers of the Ballet Rambert, noted with brilliance.
