The excellent choirs of the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall at the Basilica of Sant’Andrea della Valle.
Reopen the concert season in the churches of Rome with a concert that will take place in the magnificent Basilica of Sant’Andrea della Valle (Corso Vittorio Emanuele) and will feature two excellent choirs from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall, from Milford, Connecticut, United States.
The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, located in Milford, Connecticut, is a women’s preparatory college founded in 1905. The Lauralton Hall Concert Choir and the Advanced Vocal Ensemble are part of the school’s ambitious artistic program. The Concert Choir is composed of students aged between 16 and 18 and the components of the Advanced Vocal Ensemble are selected by this choral group through audition. The school choirs performed locally, nationally and internationally, during a papal mass in the Vatican, twice at the Lincoln Center in New York City, by invitation several times at Walt Disney World Florida and as a representative of the state of Connecticut in the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Jamestown in Virginia in the presence of President George W.
Director Margaret Sargent has lived and performed in the United States and abroad. After a long career as a singer he started teaching privately and then at school. During the 17 years as music director at Lauralton Hall, Mrs. Sargent helped to develop the musical program to include three choirs, a symphony orchestra, a jazz ensemble and an ambitious theater program.
