Anna Stolarczyk: “Songs of the stars, the desert and the wind” – concert at the Cellar under the Rams
A series of 11 works inspired by the poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi, a 13th-century Sufi poet and mystic, who was originally from Afghanistan and eventually settled in what was then Turkey in the province of Konya. Rumi’s work fantastically interweaves folklore, humor and, above all, ecstatic poetry, extolling mystical experience, visions and the astonishingly sensual freedom experienced by man who is at one with the source of creation, God, the Absolute, of whom Rumi says: “We do not know You as we should. We don’t understand anything. Why should I seek? I am the same as You. Your essence speaks through me. All this time I have been searching for myself!” A similar association is evoked by the cry of St. Francis of Assisi’s contemporary Rumi: “Love is not loved!”
