This February, do not miss the well-known celebration „masopust“, which will happen throughout the whole Prague!

You may look forward to the annual carnival parade of masks accompanied by live music, which is attended by hundreds of people every year. As always, slaughterhouse, slivovitz, mulled wine, beer and other delicacies. What is more, there is going to be various performances which will keep you in a good mood for the whole afternoon!

Here is a list of places where the carnival will be held, for example in Prague:

Malostranský and Hradčany Carnival
Date: 10 February 2024 13:00 – 18:00
Logistics. The parade will meet in front of the U Černého vola inn at 13:00.

Carnival in Kbely
Date: 3.2.2024
Time: 13:00 – 18:00
Logistics:
13:30 – meeting of masks, permission to parade (Central Park Kbely) – Nouzovské náměstí – dance with the bear – Central Park Kbely – beheading of the mare, evaluation of the best mask
15:30 Theatre Burt – About the Coach and the Dog
Competition for the best children’s, adult and collective mask.
Music for listening and dancing by Brass Bombers.
During the afternoon in the Central Park you can buy carnival delicacies from Černý the Butcher! Masks are welcomed!

Carnival in Dolní Počernice
Date: 3 February 2024 13:30 – 20:00
Logistics. After the traditional parade through the village accompanied by the band “VRZAVÁ SUZY”, the best masks in both the children’s and adult categories will be announced in the courtyard of the Český statek guesthouse. At 5 p.m., the carnival feast at the Czech Farm begins, which, in case of interest, will end at 8 p.m.

Ctěnice carnival
Date: 3 February 2024 11:00 – 17:00
Programme:
11:00-12:30 castle workshop, making masks for the parade / Castle / art workshop for all / 50,- CZK
13:00 opening of carnival, folklore ensemble Doudleban – folklore ensemble demonstrations, carnival carol, accordion player
14:00 Naive Theatre Liberec / How Kuba walked to Markytou / Carriage House / 100 CZK
15.00 Doudleban ensemble – carnival parade around the premises; welcoming the carnival parade from Vinor
15.45 Doudleban ensemble – folklore carnival demonstrations, accordion player

South Town Carnival
Date: 2 February 2024 15:30 – 19:00
Programme:
15:30 A parade of masks with a band will start from Opatov metro station towards the Central Park.
At 16:00 there will be competitions, frolics and various creations for children at the Mother Teresa Community Centre.
At 5:30 pm, the carnival parade with Filip and Kristýnka from the musical group Mouse and Mash will break out.
If you want inspiration for this year’s mask, the theme is: What’s in the woods? So all the sponges, hedgehogs, rabbits, strawberries, blueberries, fawns,… there’s no limit to the imagination. If you don’t happen to have a mask, feel free to come without one.
Admission to the indoor program is 70,-.
