Rotlicht Festival for Analogue Photography

After the great success of ROTLICHT 2021 with 1300 visitors, we are pleased to open the second festival for analogue photography in Vienna in November 2022. With our festival we offer an innovative space for a qualitatively new discourse on analogue photography with a focus on theory, art and practice.

Analogue photography has been experiencing a revival in recent years, which can be seen increasingly in the growing supply (and also growing prices) of analogue photographic equipment. A growing number of people are interested in analogue practices and hybrid techniques again. Nevertheless, there is no networked international scene for analogue photography. The ROTLICHT Festival is currently changing this. We are currently in the process of establishing an international scene for analogue photography and have entered into partnerships with other European festivals for analogue photography.

In addition to the main exhibition, the ROTLICHT festival focuses on numerous exhibitions at various locations in the city. In all the different locations, works of national and international photographers are presented.

Previous editions featured a mix of different exhibition spaces from private apartments in the 1st district to prestigious galleries as well as off-spaces, archives and museums has been particularly well received by our foreign visitors.
