Jazz Night is an event organised as part of the Krakow Nights series.
During this special Night, various genres of jazz are presented, performed by outstanding artists from around the world. The concerts are held in venues selected individually to suit the nature of the musical endeavors.
Meetings with music lovers in clubs last until late at night. In carrying out the Jazz Night, the Department of Culture and National Heritage cooperates with the My Polish Heart Foundation, the “Dworek Białoprądnicki” Cultural Center, and the Nowa Huta Cultural Center. For several years, the concerts have been held in the courtyard of the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Cracow.
In July, Krakow resounds with jazz. And so it has been for years. And this is due to both the Jazz Festival Krakow and the Krakow Jazz Night, the 16th edition of which will take place on Saturday, July 15.
Jazz will be heard both in Krakow’s clubs and on outdoor stages: in the Small Market Square, in the courtyard of the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, as well as at the Białoprądnicki Manor House, the Nowa Huta Cultural Center and the Andrzej Bursa Youth Culture Center. This year, the Krakow Philharmonic will also resound with jazz.
This year’s 16th edition is traditionally planned for the Small Market Square, the Courtyard of the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, as well as the Białoprądnicki Manor House, the Nowa Huta Cultural Center, and the Andrzej Bursa Youth Cultural Center.
– On July 15, all of Krakow will once again resound with jazz. We have prepared more than twenty concerts for residents and guests. Musicians from different parts of the world will perform, presenting various jazz interpretations and – probably – improvisations.
We will hear jazz stars, as well as bands created especially for this event. Jazz Night is a celebration of those who create music, those who perform it and those who listen to it. All will be united by the universal language of music. On July 15, Krakow will become the capital of jazz. It is not to be missed! – Katarzyna Olesiak, director of the Department of Culture and National Heritage at the University of Krakow, invites you to participate in the Jazz Night.
Roberto Magris Trio feat. Maciej Sikała & Marcin Ślusarczyk with their “Tribute to Janusz Muniak” concert, Ewa Bem with the Andrzej Jagodzinski Quartet (Poland), and the Danish band Ida Nielsen & The Funkbots will perform on the Small Market. Start of the concerts: 6 pm.
At the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK, Tomek Grochot with the Electric Machine project GROCHOTOBOT will perform, Studio S 5 of Radio Krakow is the venue for the Horntet group’s concert, at the Potocki Palace we will hear the Piotr Domagała Trio formation, and at the Krakow Cultural Forum Agnieszka Grochowicz with Bogdan Holownia.
This year during the Jazz Night, the Krakow Philharmonic will also resound with jazz sounds. For as many as three hours – from 9 p.m. to midnight in the Large Hall and the Blue Hall, the Italian Jazz Night will last here. The Big Hall will feature the Roberto Magris Trio feat. Maciej Sikała & Marcin Ślusarczyk, Filippo Dall’Asta & Marek Piątek Django Set, Giulia La Rosa Quintet feat. Andrea, Beneventano & Aldo Joshua, and in the Blue Hall the Mike del Ferro Trio feat. Kacper Smolinski with their concert “Tribute to Toots Thielemans.”
There is no shortage of outstanding individuals on the Polish jazz scene, musicians who are talented, versatile and, moreover, associated with Krakow. Such an artist is saxophonist, composer, improviser and multi-instrumentalist Marek Pospieszalski. He will be the star and host of the Jazz Night at the Białoprądnicki Manor House. He will invite outstanding artists from the so-called “source trend”, representatives of modern music and electronics, creating a unique meeting of jazz with other genres. In a joint intention of the artist and JAZZKULTURA, this year’s Jazz Night at Dwor.
