Dreher Beer Poster Exhibition

07.06.2022 - 31.08.2022

A periodical beer poster exhibition opens at the Dreher Beer Memorial! A special selection of legendary advertising posters from Hungarian beer production awaits visitors.

The newly opened poster exhibition on the history of advertising at the Dreher Brewery Memorial – which awaits visitors throughout the summer – reveals a collection most of which has never been seen before. The periodical exhibition presents a thematic selection related to the Dreher Breweries from the late 19th century to the socialist era.
The Dreher Beer Memorial preserves and collects a number of poster works, advertising posters and designs, some of which have never been seen by the public before. A selection of these relics will be presented this summer, during which the posters of the Dreher brand, the products of the former factories of the Dreher Breweries, ie the First Hungarian Stock Brewery, the Haggenmacher, the Polgári Brewery and the Capital Brewery, will be on display. visitors. The collection includes advertisements from different eras from the end of the 19th century to socialism, and features curiosities such as Gambrinus Kalendar”, one of the oldest poster calendars, made in 1879 by Henrik Haggenmacher at the Budafok Brewery.

Dreher Breweries consciously used the best artists to create their advertising graphic designs, so visitors can see the works of such famous artists as Dezső Bér, Ákos Garay, László Káldor, Ernő Kiss, Pál Kiss, György Ponyi, Tibor Rohó, , Árpád Romek, Gyula Rumbold and Endre Sárossy.
The Dreher Breweries and the Dreher brand team still have a meaningful relationship with the designers of the current world of graphics and art, and their collaboration has resulted in many invitations and successful creations. One result of this is the unique poster design for the current exhibition, created by Attila Lőrincz, winner of the 2019 Dreher 165 poster design competition.
The exhibition also includes the Asahi Corner, where Discover Tokyo” will feature paintings by photographer Soós Bertalan in Tokyo. The works show well the duality of the city, as both the vibrant 21st century and respect for tradition appear in the photos. The Asahi Corner showcases the past and present of Dreher’s parent company, a good representation of the symbiosis of tradition and innovation.
The exhibition can only be visited within the framework of the Museum Guided Tour program. Participation is subject to registration, which can be done on the Dreher Memorial website.
