Let’s go back in time for a few days! Interesting programmes await you at the Budapest100, this weekend!

? We’re taking the Castle! ?
This year we finally don’t have to postpone,so we dared to dream big and extended Budapest100 to four days. The traditional Open House weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday 14-15 May.

The usual friendly chats, the Budapest100 team is preparing for you with walks and colourful activities to discover hidden corners and secrets and around 100 enthusiastic volunteers.

Ever wondered what it’s like to live in the Castle? Now you can get to know the sights and people of Buda’s Buda Castle, from the Viennese Gate to the Dísz Square, from the Tóth Árpád promenade to the stairs winding along the walls. We tell the stories of the people who lived here, and what modern life is like within the centuries-old walls.

The Budapest100 civic celebration, a festival of communities and the city, a weekend that brings people, neighbours and generations closer together.

The programme was launched in 2011 by the OSA Archive and KÉK – Kortárs Építészeti Központ (Contemporary Architecture Centre ) to celebrate centenary houses. Since 2016, the focus has been on a single urban thematic programme. The aim is still the same: to show the houses from cellar to attic, to get to know the residents and to contribute to the development of new communities. The Budapest100 events are organised by volunteers and local patriots for the residents of the houses, and representatives of the participating institutions. All programmes are free.

Useful information:
? Printed programme leaflets from the KÉK – Kortárs Építészeti Központban (Bartók Béla út 10-12.), and other places soon.
? Buildings participating in the programme will have Budapest100 banners on their facades. Where no such banner is visible, the location is not part of our programme.
? In the Castle District, there are mostly small houses of medieval origin, so in some cases, you may have to wait a while to get in, as there is limited space in the courtyards.
? The venues and programmes are free and open to the public during the event.
? Pre-registration is not required. Programmes that require registration are indicated separately.
? The programmes are mostly in Hungarian. Those in English are marked separately.
? Budapest100 is a public event where the organisers will also take photos/videos to document and promote the programme. By participating in the programme, visitors, volunteers and organisers automatically acknowledge that if they appear in the photos/videos, they cannot claim any compensation for their participation, or for the promotion of the programme.
