Farmers’ markets are held every Sunday on the outdoor piazza of the Ippodromo delle Capannelle. Fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, honey, eggs, flour…. this is just a small sample of what you can find here. The markets start as early as 8.30am, so be sure to set your alarm earlier during the weekend.
The Mercato Contadino dei Castelli Romani was founded in 2010, in the World Year of Biodiversity, thanks to the alliance between a group of quality agricultural producers and a group of consumers, already involved in solidarity purchasing groups, eager to choose the best food to feed themselves and their children. Producers and consumers, tired of their loneliness, have founded a food community in which each could count for something more and reaffirm their food sovereignty by freeing themselves from the tyranny of agro-industrial products and large-scale organised distribution.
However, the exception will be Easter Day, April 17, when the markets will not take place. They will be moved one day earlier, April 16.
