An exclusive evening of neoclassical ballet that is a celebration of the human body.
An exclusive Slovak premiere of choreographic masterpieces by greats such as William Forsythe, who has shaped the aesthetics of world ballet for more than two decades, and Jerome Robbins, whose works are characterised by the intersection of ballet and musical theatre. Four choreographies by composers whose names resonate in the world’s most prestigious companies.
The evening, entitled Manuscripts of the Masters, presents the Slovak premiere of stage works that represent the work of four of the world’s great choreographers of the 20th and 21st centuries – Edwaard Liang, Craig Davidson, William Forsythe and Jerome Robbins. Each has a distinctive and unique movement vocabulary, a different perception of the dancer’s body, and an individual approach to working dance technique into a choreographic text. The four one-movement dance compositions are united by their technical difficulty, accentuation of movement aesthetics and poetics, which is reflected especially in the harmony of the dance and the musical subject matter. The ambition of the programme is to enrich the repertoire with works of world modern ballet, which, although a great challenge for the performers, are a tempting treat for the audience.
