The one-day textile workshop is part of the programme offer for the Fashion in Blue exhibition. Tradition and Contemporary Indigo in Japanese and Czech Textiles. It offers participants the opportunity to learn about the Japanese technique of shibori textile decoration. The name of the technique comes from the Japanese word shiboru, which is a term for the manipulation of fabric before dyeing. A theoretical introduction with projection will introduce this technique of sewing and tying fabrics before dyeing in a historical context. At the beginning of the practical part, participants will try sewing and tying the fabric and in the second part they will dye the textile blanks. They will take home a sampler of shibori sewing and tying techniques and an original silk scarf. Don’t miss this chance to take home a piece of art and visit the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague!
Duration 10 am – 5 pm with a lunch break 1 pm – 2 pm (use of the museum restaurant is possible).
