Advent Gospel in Prague

The award-winning gospel group The Christmas Gospel Singers have enchanted audiences around the world with their vocal performances. The group brings together a variety of talents with unique vocal abilities, which, combined with traditional gospel elements, makes for a breathtaking spectacle and an intense performance experience whose message is to spread joy and share the love of gospel music.

The leader of the ensemble is Stella Jones, a singer whose genre focus extends to jazz, pop, funk and soul styles in addition to gospel. Stella was born in Berlin and has been surrounded by music and art itself since she was a young girl. At the age of five, she was given her first keyboard by her father, American jazz trumpeter Carmel Jones, and has been intensely involved in music ever since. By the age of nine she was composing her own songs and beginning to create audio books with her own paintings and comics. She also created her own puppets. After she moved to Vienna, she started performing in local jazz clubs.

In 1984, she began recording and performing in musicals. One of the most famous ones is certainly The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Eight years later she topped the Austrian charts with the Powerpack. She then represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. After this experience, she went on to collaborate with well-known artists such as Maceo Parker, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Gloria Gaynor and Chaka Khan. In the summer of 2016, she performed as part of the MTV Unplugged series.
