Come to the second edition of the fair focusing on literature about art. Over the course of two days it will offer a platform for galleries, art schools, internet portals, magazines, publishers, collectors and above all book lovers.

This year, the fair will bring more than 60 vendors not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad. What is also new is a section for authors and groups dedicated to the creation of author’s books.

SCHEDULE OF THE ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME

Come to the third edition of the fair focused on literature about art. Over two days, it will offer a platform for galleries, art schools, internet portals, magazines, publishers, collectors and above all book lovers.

The accompanying programme of the GHMP Art Book Fair will feature a wide range of guests who will not only address the practical ecological aspects of book publishing, but also the sustainability of publishing practice, cultural policy, libraries and the longevity of books.

THE SCHEDULE OF THE ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME

SATURDAY 16. 10.30-12.00 Barbara Baronova: Sustainability, ecology, ethics

The opening lecture of the Art Book Fair will address the issues of sustainable publishing in the contemporary world in an ethical yet ecological way – covering various intellectual concepts, practices and issues that we as publishers
and readers, we need to start asking.

13.00-14.30 Laia Figueras Tortras: Ecological Calculator

Spanish theorist and director of the Institute of Ecological Book Publishing Laia Figueras Tortras will present a clever eco-calculator that calculates the carbon footprint of book production. In her presentation, she will take into account – within the calculated models – not only Spanish but Czech contexts of book production.

14.45-16.15 Radka Hájková: Practical guide to eco-book
Eco-visionary Radka Hájková, co-founder of the ecological publishing house Walden Press and the e-bookstore BioBooks.cz, focuses on the ecological aspects of publishing, distributing and selling books in the Czech Republic – in her presentation she will present the steps, approaches and strategies she and Jiří Hlinka apply in their publishing house for book production.

16.30-18.00 Discussion.
Guests invited to Saturday’s discussion on how much or how little contemporary Czech publishing houses can be ecologically friendly are Spanish theoretician of ecological book publishing Laia Figueras Tortras, Czech publisher Radka Hájková, Jana Rakúsová representing Munken ecological papers and Robert Helbich, owner of the Brno printing house. They will discuss the availability of organic materials, organic practices and practices at home versus abroad. The debate will be moderated by journalist Klára Fleyberková.

SUNDAY 17.9. 10.30-12.00 Corinne Fleury: The book as an ecosystem
In her lecture, publisher Corinne Fleury, originally from Mauritius but now based in France, discusses the topic of bibliodiversity, comparing ecological book publishing in the Global South versus the North, collaborative projects of independent publishers and futuristic eco-trends in the book industry.

13.00-14.30 Discussion: how to include the topic of ecology in grant policy in the context of book publishing for the benefit of all?

Sunday’s discussion, moderated by book activist and journalist Jakub Pavlovský, will open up the topic of grant policy in the Czech Republic, taking into account the theme of ecology, across all stages of a book’s life. The debate will be attended by French publisher Corinne Fleury, publisher Karolína Voňková, Monika Horáková, deputy head of the Library of the Faculty of Education of Charles University, and a representative of the Ministry of Culture.
