Opera SND: Aida

The unusual opera of the aging master Verdi is one of the most popular works of world opera literature. It was created to order, which came from exotic Cairo and was to be presented as part of the ceremony at the opening of the Suez Canal. Although it did not go according to plan and the work was heard a little later, the ceremonial character remained unchanged. Aida’s music meets the spectacular luster of state and military ceremonies with tense moments of emotional conflicts between the central protagonists and the outward splendor of mass scenes with choirs and ballet numbers with intimately tuned passages of lyrical personal confessions. Aida is not only an engaging romantic story with captivating music but also a narrative monumental fresco that attracts no less eyes like ears.
