Thousands of people join this wonderful and colourful event called VIENNA PRIDE every year to express their solidarity with the LGBTIQ communities in Austria and around the world. The highlight is of course the famous rainbow parade. And while the celebration atmosphere makes the rainbow parade look like a huge street party, everyone is reminded that this is also a political demonstration demanding a non-discriminating society in Austria and elsewhere. So, strong messages of love, respect and solidarity are encouraged on either banners, t-shirts, your dance moves on the street, or in what you simply shout out loud!
As we’ve already mentioned, the highlight of this beautiful event is the Pride Parade (German: Regenbogenparade; literally Rainbow Parade) on 11 June with an expected number of more than 250,000 participants combining celebration and protest. Another highlight is the Pride Run Vienna, which will unite hundreds of participants running and riding for acceptance on 10 June. These events will again be accompanied by numerous online and on-site events.
