The illustration is one of the richest fields of art, currently experiencing its heyday, and the work of illustrators, and especially – in the case of Spain – illustrators, is noticed and appreciated. In the publishing environment, where more and more often the form of an illustrated book, the work of graphic artists is more and more visible, often their works illustrate the revived works of universal classics or contemporary projects.
At the exhibition – curated by Matilde Rodríguez – we present the works of artists highly appreciated in Spain and internationally, such as: Chilean Luisa Rivera and Spanish Sonia Pulido, María Hesse, Helena Pérez García and Lara Lars.
Portraits, self-portraits, scenes from everyday life or oneiric visions use universal symbols and themes that appeal to the viewer, showing a woman in an independent and sincere way, aware of her role and rights, at the same time establishing a direct relationship between the real world and the world presented, showing each the illustrator herself.
Their illustrations are more independent, creative and personal, originally made in various formats and techniques: using screen printing, collage, ceramics, animation, risography, digital drawing or installation.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Department of Culture and National Heritage of the City of Krakow, under the Honorary Patronage of the Embassy of Spain in Poland, on the occasion of the 10th Krakow Comics Festival.
