Basilica di San Paolo Fuori le Mura is the second largest Roman basilica, after the Basilica di San Pietro. It has been part of the UNESCO list since 1991. It is known for its impressive structure and is one of the four papal basilicas.
According to tradition, the tomb of the Apostle Paul should be located under the basilica. The first Christians built a tomb chapel on this site, but later Constantine had built a basilica here. It was destroyed by fire in 1823 and was subsequently repaired, and since about 1854 it has retained its appearance. This temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage.
