Knights at Devín


We will be happy to welcome you to Devín on Saturday, July 2 🙂 Celebrate the beginning of the holidays with your children and take a peek into the Middle Ages with us! In addition, a rich accompanying programme, fairy tales, swordsmen, dancers, tournaments, recitals, closing ceremony and closing of the castle await you.

You can look forward to the following programme:

10:00 – Opening of the gates of Devín Castle

11:00 – Opening ceremony with fencing demonstrations and flag ceremony

12:00 – Fairy tale The Rose and the Sword
A verse fairy tale from the Middle Ages for children and adults, featuring a tender princess, a powerful king, a good and bad prince and a storyteller who can change the course of fate by magic.

13:00 – Period dances
Is it possible to win love by dancing? A fairy tale story full of dance from a simple folk background full of dreams and magic.

14:00 – Capturing Richard the Lionheart
A fencing and theatre medallion dedicated to this important figure of the Middle Ages and the events that preceded his capture on Austrian territory.

15:00 – Talostan the Magician
The perfect combination of magic and entertainment

16:00 – Knight tournament from the Middle Ages
A jousting tournament from the second half of the 14th century, where not only the knights but also their horses are dressed in colourful garments decorated with heraldic symbols. The tournament is accompanied in verse by a jester, who comments on the individual knightly disciplines, as well as the final knightly cursing with the clogs. An atmosphere of medieval jousting that will entertain everybody!

17:30 – Medieval tones
A recital thematically set in the medieval period. A selection of prose and poetry performed by master swordsman Peter Koza, accompanied by a live musical background.

18:20 – Closing ceremony with fencing demonstrations and flag ceremony

19:00 – Closing of the event and closing of Devín Castle

Throughout the day you will be offered all kinds of fun and entertainment:
– shooting range with bows, crossbows and knife throwing
– live and wooden horse rides
– children’s corner with various games – catapult, stilts, throwing rings at unicorns, throwing rings at swords, throwing balls at the dragon
– craft and sales stalls

After buying your ticket, in addition to our performances, you can also see the whole castle area with all its beautiful corners and interesting exhibitions.

Please note that Devín Castle is off-limits to dogs, except for guide dogs for the visually impaired.
