If you have enough of movies, TV shows and books you´ve been reading for the past couple of weeks, one of the events you can go to from the safety of your own home is to visit Europe’s second-oldest theatre and Vienna´s National Theater.
The Burgtheater was opened in 1741 and has become known as “die Burg” by the Viennese population. The theatre company has created a unique and traditional style and speech typical of their performances. The Burgtheater plays a very important role in the German-speaking theatrical world. Every year hundreds of thousands of visitors come to the venue and enjoy the works of the most famous playwrights in history. The ensemble of the theatre performs around 800 plays annually but due to the Corona outbreak, all the performance ś have been postponed. Do not worry: you can still take a tour and check out the collection of art available there as well as discover the beautiful architecture of this place.
On top of that, the Burghteter management has set up their own YouTube channel where you can find a couple of their performance available for free.
On the website, you´ll be able to find close-ups of all the pieces of paintings that are currently available in the Burgtheater in Vienna as well as take a tour through the halls of the building by choosing the VR tour option on the website below. Enjoy the tour and don´t forget: STAY AT HOME! 😀
