Purim Cookie Street – Contemporary Jewish Cultural and Cookie Festival The Purim Cookie Street, jointly organized by the Gólem Center, Csányi5, the MAZS Foundation and KULT7, is a special event where cookies and Jewish culture meet on one of the shortest streets in Budapest.
The event aims to showcase contemporary Jewish cultural and gastronomic life while celebrating Purim, one of the most joyful holidays in the Jewish calendar. Discover the holiday of Purim in a unique way at the Cookie Street!
• Craft workshops: Creative activities for young and old, where they can get acquainted with Jewish craft traditions.
• Tenth Tale with Juli Huzella: A story morning for the little ones, presented by Júlia Huzella, who entertains children with magical stories.
• Slideshow with Uncle Iván: A screening of classic slide films led by Uncle Iván, providing a nostalgic experience for all ages.
• Farkasházi Réka and the Ink Rabbit Concert: An interactive children’s concert where children can sing and dance along with the band.
• Non-perishable food collection: A charity event where participants can donate non-perishable food to those in need.
• Café Tales with Noémi Saly: A literary discussion and reading with author Noémi Saly, who talks about café culture.
• Private History – Guided Tour with Éva Keleti: An exclusive guided tour with photographer Éva Keleti, who presents her work through her personal stories.
• PURIMURI – Interactive Treasure Hunt Game: An exciting treasure hunt game in the street, where participants can complete tasks at different stations.
• Csányi Tanház: Modern Esthers – 3 Jewish Actresses Who Changed the World: A presentation about three outstanding Jewish actresses who have had a significant impact on the world of theater and film.
• MAZS Jaffe JFS Family Day: Family programs, games and activities organized by the MAZS Foundation.
Gastronomic experiences:
During the festival, visitors can taste traditional Purim pastries, such as hamántás, as well as other Jewish sweets and dishes. Several stands await visitors on site, where they can learn about the specialties of Jewish cuisine.
Community experience:
The Sütiutca is not only about gastronomic pleasures, but also about community building. Participants can meet people interested in Jewish culture, make new friends and celebrate the joy of Purim together.
Directions:
• By public transport: Csányi Street is easily accessible by trams 4 and 6 (Király Street stop) and trolleybuses 70 and 78 (Király Street / Erzsébet Boulevard stop).
• By car: Paid parking is available in the area, but public transport is recommended due to the limited number of parking spaces.
